Follow Up to Vermont Nonprofit Conference 2012: Benchmarks for a Better Vermont

More than 265 nonprofit leaders from 145 organizations registered for the Vermont Nonprofit Conference 2012: Benchmarks for a Better Vermont. The full day of activities, simulcast from 11 VIT sites across the state, focused on improving organizational effectiveness with Results-Based Accountability™ (concepts derived from Mark Friedman’s seminal book, “Trying Hard is Not Good Enough”.)

Dr. Amy Carmola, United Way of Chittenden County’s Director of Community Impact and Engagement, provided an overview of Results-Based Accountability (RBA) and how to measure organizational performance on a program and population level. Amy’s slide presentation may be found here.

Anne Lezak, BBVT Coordinator and Kate Jellema, BBVT Director provided details on how to participate in the next steps of Benchmarks for a Better Vermont: the CCAT and Performance Institute, along with important deadlines. More information on BBVT in general is available at BBVT FAQ’s.

Lizanne Peyton outlined the purpose and deadlines for the Core Capacity Assessment Tool (CCAT) –an organizational assessment resource available at no charge (or for a reduced fee of $200) starting on March 21st at 9 a.m. You can learn more from her Briefing slides and with these CCAT FAQ’s

Important Deadlines:

•Wednesday 3/21, 9 AM – CCAT Sign-Up Begins
•Wednesday 3/28 -  Performance Institute Application Available at bbvt.marlboro.edu
Wednesday 4/18 – Final Day to Complete CCAT to Qualify for Performance Institute
•Tuesday, 5/1 – Final Day for ALL CCAT applications
•Friday 4/27 – Performance Institute Application due 5 p.m.
•Wednesday 5/2 – Friday 5/11 – Interviews with Finalists
•Wednesday 5/17 – Announcement of Performance Institute Participants
•To Be Announced (May) – CCAT Debriefing Workshops for all CCAT Participants
