Position Announcement: After School Program Director
Description:
The Director of Thrive After School will be responsible for managing the City of Winooski’s state-licensed childcare program that serves 12-20 elementary-age kids for 2.5 afternoon hours, Monday – Friday, during the school year. The person in this position will supervise 1-3 staff members, maintain attendance and other records, plan activities and daily schedules, and ensure that the program operates in compliance with State licensing regulations. This individual may also be required to regularly transport children to the program (or off-site for field trips) in a City-owned vehicle.
This is a part-time position: 12-18 hours per week. Qualified candidates must be able work in the program from 2:30-5:30pm most days, with availability for an additional 1-3 hours of program planning and administrative tasks each week on a more flexible schedule.
Thrive offers full-day childcare programming during some (non-holiday) school vacation weeks, so availability to work increased hours during Winooski school vacations is preferred. The Director will also be offered the opportunity to continue to work over the summer in the City’s Summer Youth Enrichment Program.
Pay Scale: $14.00-$16.00/hr
Requirements:
- BA/BS (or relevant Assoc. Degree with 4+ years experience working with elementary-age youth)
- Two or more years experience working with youth, grades K-5
- Valid driver’s license
- Criminal background check prior to hiring
Responsibilities:
- Plan & facilitate group activities
- Provide supervision of children & ensure participant safety
- Manage 1-3 staff & occasional volunteers
- Maintain program records
- Communicate with parents
