A Basic Mediation Workshop is offered by Champlain College’s Mediation & Applied Conflict Studies in conjunction with the Center for Professional & Executive Development. This three and a half day workshop will help you develop the skills and techniques you need in the workplace to manage and support conflict resolution. Mediation is defined as “a negotiation to resolve differences that is conducted by some impartial party”. Mediation techniques can help resolve disputes among co-workers, neighbors, landlords and tenants, business partners, or business owners and clients. Participants in this program will learn and practice the following skills:
- Identifying and framing issues;
- Listening for interests;
- Controlling the process;
- Helping disputants solve problems;
- Finalizing agreements; and
- Handling special problems in mediation.
Who Should Attend:
Mediation skills are a valued competency in any environment, private, nonprofit or government sectors. Leaders of organizations and managers of people are encouraged to enroll.
