Building Bright Futures Joins the Global #GivingTuesday Movement Nov 29

Building Bright Futures, through its State Advisory and 12 Regional Councils, has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring  this year on November 29, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the US) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.

This year, Building Bright Futures is using this opportunity to raise money for the Vermont Parent Child Center Network, through the individual on-line giving site GiveGab [ is external)] to buttress their crucial efforts to support families through the provision of gas cards, emergency food or utility vouchers, books, diapers, laundry vouchers and more.

“Vermont is fortunate to have Parent Child Centers across the state to offer parents and children services essential to their daily lives”, said Sarah Squirrell, Executive Director of Building Bright Futures. “We salute their ongoing efforts to support families and children in our communities and hope our fundraising efforts will bring more resources and awareness to their mission-critical work.”

Any recognition and support of their efforts is crucial to the well-being of Vermont’s children.”

92Y −  a cultural center in New York City that, since 1874, has  been bringing people together around its core values of community  service and giving back − conceptualized #GivingTuesday as a new way of linking individuals and causes to strengthen communities and encourage giving. In 2015, the fourth year of the movement, #GivingTuesday brought together over 45,000 partners in 71 countries and helped raise nearly $117 Million online in the US alone.
