Watch Vermont Surplus Crop Summit 2017

On May 10, 2017, in partnership with Vermont Farm to Plate, Salvation Farms hosted Vermont’s first Surplus Crop Forum in Burlington, Vermont.

Nearly 40 representatives from across the region’s food system discussed how to bring more surplus crops into institutional meal programs (such as prisons, schools, nursing homes and hospitals).

Julia Scheier, Operations Director of Salvation Farms, Alyson Eastman, Deputy Secretary of Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets, and Theresa Snow, Executive Director of Salvation Farms provide an overview of food loss in Vermont and Salvation Farms’ strategic compass and approach.
