Join us 4/3 Brattleboro & 4/27 Burlington

This Spring Common Good Vermont & Center for New Leadership are partnering to bring you our new Board Leadership Series! Executive Directors and their Board Chairs are invited to our spring-time series designed to:

  • Increase your knowledge on key topics,
  • Expand your network of peers, and
  • Build your board’s capacity to serve your organization!

A great learning opportunity for existing and prospective board members and staff members, especially EDs and Board Chairs. We encourage more than one participant from each organization! There will be 30 minutes of networking included to build connections with other committed individuals in the community.

April 3rd in Brattleboro: Building Board Roles and Executive Director Teamwork

6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Brattleboro, VT

This 2 hour interactive workshop will pull from participants’ real world board experiences to explore the primary roles of board members and some strategies to utilize when things go wrong. A primary focus will be on building a strong team with the Executive Director and how to prevent and manage board conflict. We will welcome your stories about (unnamed) board challenges and will work together to give you tools to implement when you leave.

Led by Greg Hessel of Regeneration Resources and Center for New Leadership.

April 27th in Burlington: Board Recruitment for Tomorrow’s Leaders

8:30 – 10:00 a.m. Burlington, VT

We used to recruit board members from among our friends and acquaintances . . . no wonder we often run out of people in familiar circles to ask. Today, recruiting is as much about knowing WHAT you want to recruit, as HOW to recruit. Building strong board leadership is an essential step in cultivating a thriving nonprofit.

Join Common Good Vermont and Jan Van Buren of Noonmark Services on April 27th for to learn the how and what of recruiting future board members.
